Almanac – Tsar

The songwriting in particular deserves heaps of praise here. All the tracks generally follow a ‘verse-chorus-verse-chorus’ framework, but Smolski has added so many pivotal points of intrigue between each section, that the album becomes a maze-like labyrinth of blazing solos, anthemic choruses and earth-shattering riffs. O the riffs! I haven’t felt my neck instinctively wave back and forth this hard since Anthrax released “For All Kings” back in February.
